Oliver Cudbill

Oliver Cudbill Benvolio and Feste / Clown

Oliver trained at RADA. Whilst at RADA, he played John Carter from Earthquakes in London written by Mike Bartlett, which was directed by Andrew Tidmarsh; Calpurnia and Portia in Julius Caesar - a collaborative and devised piece of experimental theatre directed by Vivian Munn; and a new piece of writing from the Goldsmiths MA New Writing Course called Honeytrap, directed by Tom Hunsinger. He's also a violinist and pianist. He was a member of the Nottingham Youth Orchestra from 2004-2008 and led the orchestra when he was 14. He's also worked professionally as a violinist performing at weddings, sometimes solo, or with quartets.

 

David Davies

David Davies Company Manager
Friar Laurence (and Mercutio in London / Arundel) and Sir Toby Belch

David is the company manager of GB Theatre. He played Jacques in As You Like It and Ford in Merry Wives of Windsor for GBT's launch in 2010. David was also Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, this time for Guildford Shakespeare Company. He was The company manager for The British Shakespeare Company’s national and international tour and played Oberon/Theseus and Don Pedro in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Much Ado About Nothing 09. That year he toured for the Young Shakespeare Company and played Maximillian in the film Leaving, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival Short Corner 09.

David was an ensemble member of the British Shakespeare Company (BSC) and played Oberon and Theseus at Arundel Castle in 2008. He played Chorus/Exeter in Henry V and Dukes Frederick and Senior in As You Like It for the BSC in 2007, and then finished that year with an extensive tour of Germany and Switzerland for New Triad Theatre in Alan Ayckbourn’s Time and Time Again. Other work for the BSC includes Oberon/Theseus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Lord Capulet in Romeo and Juliet in 2006. He plays parts in the film Sweet Swan of Avon where the BSC provided its troupe of players.

David returned to England with the Bell Shakespeare Company’s production of The Comedy of Errors to open the Bath Shakespeare Festival 2006, and to play Blackpool’s Grand Theatre. He studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney and was an ensemble member of Bell Shakespeare for six years playing the Sydney Opera House and touring Australia. His theatrical highlight has been playing Hamlet for The Hole in the Wall Theatre Company.

Other companies include the Perth Theatre Company and Deckchair Theatre’s 1999 tour of Croatia and Bosnia with Nevesinska 17.

Television includes Stingers, The Sleepover Club, and Bush Patrol, as well as writing several plays including The Karismatic Effekt and his one man show Finchie about the legendary Australian actor Peter Finch, based on Trader Faulkner’s biography. He directed The Winters Tale for Saffron Walden’s Shake-a-Leg Theatre Company, which marked his professional debut as a director.


Suzannah Hampton

Suzannah Hampton Lady Capulet and Olivia

Suzannah graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School last year and is very excited to be touring with GB Theatre Company. Since leaving Bristol Old Vic, Suzannah has forged a successful career as a voice over artist, with credits including Google; ‘Reader’s Digest’; ‘The Economist’; and The Olympic Committee. Theatre credits include: On The Razzle (Theatre Royal); Man of Mode (Circomedia); Oh! What A Lovely War (Tobacco Factory); and Much Ado About Nothing (Theatre Royal). Whilst training, Suzannah was privileged to be chosen as a representative of Bristol Old Vic in the Royal Shakespeare Company annual workshop. Suzannah played Celia in As you Like It and Mistress Page in The Merry Wives of Windsor in our 2010 tour.

 

Martin Hutchinson

Martin Hutchinson Stage Manager - A member of the Watch (and Sir Andrew in London / Arundel) and Second Officer / Priest

Martin has been involved in theatre since the age of 7, appearing in many roles both on and back stage. Whilst training for his drama degree at Winchester University, Martin was given the opportunity to work alongside both professional and PHD student led theatre companies, acting as Company Stage Manager, assisting them with their tours of the south west. Since then he has worked across the industry in various roles; highlights have been performing locally, playing leading roles such as Angel in Rent and Francis Fryer in Calamity Jane. Martin was privileged enough to work as the Technical Theatre Manager for Townley Grammar School, where he successfully Production Managed a full female version of the much loved Jesus Christ Superstar. Other Work has included being part of the regular casual team at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, leading their Chaperone Team during the Summer Youth Project in 2010. Recently, he was the Stage Manager for the UK Asian Music Awards and joined Box Clever Theatre Company for their Introduction to Shakespeare and Romeo and Juliet, which toured England and Northern Ireland.

 

Sioned Jones

Sioned Jones Nurse and Maria

Sioned trained at Exeter University and Webber Douglas. Her work in theatre includes: Never So Good, Oedipus, All's Well That Ends Well and Women Beware Women (The National); The Giraffe and The Pelly and Me (Birmingham Old Rep); Monumental for Grid Iron (Glasgow Citizens); Twelfth Night (New Palace, Westcliff-on-Sea and Cambridge Arts Theatre); WOLF! (Edinburgh and New Wolsey, Ipswich); Moby! (Octogon, Yeovil and Northcott Theatre); and Begin the Beguine (Exeter & Devon Arts Centre).

On tour and in the West End: Tolstoy; Glorious!; The Letter; Shadowlands; and Lilies on the Land. Chris Porter

Chris Porter Prince Escalus / Paris and Malvolio / Sea Captain

Chris trained at LAMDA where he was directed by Michael Woodwood in a production of The Hostage. Upon graduation, Michael gave him his first job in the industry in Romeo and Juliet and his first experience of touring. Chris is delighted to be working with him yet again and with GB Theatre in what looks to be a great 2011 season.

Joel Sams

Joel Sams Mercutio and Aguecheek

Joel trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He made his professional debut at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester, creating the part of Fox for the world premier of Blue Sky State. After appearing as a bailiff in Big White Fog at the Almeida, directed by Michael Attenborough, he played the King in Eugene Ionesco's Exit the King at the Tabard Theatre.

He returned to the Mercury Theatre to play various Romans in Coriolanus and then formed part of the 2008 Pitlochry Summer Season's company, playing John in Outlying Islands, Young Marlowe in She Stoops to Conquer and the Gus/Augustus combo in Arcadia. Joel has also appeared at The Mill at Sonning as Aubrey in The Bed Before Yesterday, by Ben Travers.

He returned to the UK this Christmas after a year-long world tour of Othello, in which he played Roderigo in many exotic places, such as Costa Rica's beautiful National Theatre; and the stark reconstruction of the King's Men's Globe standing at the University of Meisei, in Japan.

He spent until Easter this year in Hamburg, playing Frank in Mrs. Warren's Profession, for the English Theatre.

 

Philip Scott-Wallace

Philip Scott-Wallace Tybalt and Orsino / Fabian

Philip graduated from LAMDA in July 2010.

Theatre credits include: Anthony and Cleopatra (The Rose Theatre); Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet (Ashcroft Theatre, Fairfield Halls); Cyrano de Bergerac (The White Bear Theatre); The Tempest, Love and Money, O Go My Man, Nana, and The Thousand and Second Night (LAMDA); and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Feelgood Productions, Heaton Park, Manchester).

Film credits include: Strangers (short film) and Sherlock Holmes II.

 

Gabriel Thomson

Gabriel Thomson Romeo and Sebastian / Curio

Gabriel Thomson started acting young, playing Pip in BBC's Great Expectations, followed by the title role in the feature film The New Adventures of Pinocchio, and at the age of 12, starred with Ed Harris and Jude Law in the major feature film Enemy at the Gates. Gabriel became a household name playing Michael Harper in the BBC’s popular British sitcom My Family, for 11 years.

In 2009 he played Lysander and Claudio with the British Shakespeare Company, before appearing as Charlie in the feature film 13 HRS. This was then followed by the GB Theatre Company's tour last summer as Orlando and Dr Caius. He is delighted to be back touring with the company.

 

Lucy Wray

Lucy Wray Juliet and Viola

Lucy Wray trained at the Oxford School of Drama, graduating in August 2010.

Theatre credits include: Africker (Hoxton Hall) and Rogue Taxidermy (Waterloo East - rehearsed reading). Roles whilst training included: Alma in Cause Célèbre and Luciana in The Comedy of Errors (Blenheim Palace).

Since graduating from GSMD, Neil has put most of his creative energy into Love&Madness, directing: Accidental Death of an Anarchist; Fool For Love; A Taste of Honey; In Lambeth; Macbeth; Othello; Sweetness Follows; Romeo and Juliet; Twelfth Night; The Playboy of the Western World; Frankenstein; La Ronde; and Mirror Magic Market Tales.

He has performed as: Macbeth; Iago; Romeo; Malvolio; Henry V; Caliban; Stephen Blackpool in Hard Times; Lockwood in Wuthering Heights; Captain Walton in Frankenstein; Sam Bolton in Only When I Laugh!; Richmond in Richard III; and Martin in Fool For Love.
